About Our Team
Our founder, Belinda Dewey is an NNEB trained professional with more than 30 years' experience. Belinda leads an experienced, committed team; four of our staff members have been with us for eight years or more. Our children enjoy balanced, nutritious meals each day, which are hand-prepared by Belinda herself.
Our Philosophy
At Jigsaw Montessori Nursery, we follow the Montessori method of education, which was developed by the acclaimed Italian physician and educator Maria Montessori. According to Dr. Montessori, the formative period from birth to age six is the most important time for a child's development, as during this phase the mind is 'absorbent', which allows them to rapidly develop and increase their knowledge, skills and understanding with little conscious effort. To this end, we aim to provide all the resources, activities and support needed to encourage the personal and intellectual development of all the children in our care.
Each child is treated as an individual and never compared to their peers. We encourage each child to learn at their own pace, make their own choices and hone the skills that will help them achieve independence in later life.
Ofsted
Following our most recent Ofsted inspection, we were pleased to receive a 'Good' rating. The report made positive reference to children's relationships with staff and their peers. We hope to continue this success in the years to come!
EYFS Framework
Our daycare centre follows the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework. Staff guide each child as they master language and communication skills, and support them with their emotional, physical and social development.
